If you would prefer not to uninstall & reinstall Monarch, or if the installation CD
isn't available, the following steps can be taken to restore the ability to
double-click a .prf file and have Monarch open it:
Click Start, Programs, Windows NT Explorer. From the menu bar, click View and
select Options as shown:

Select the File Types tab, scroll down to the PICSRules File item, and click the
Remove button:

Click Yes when the pop-up window asks if you're sure you wish to remove this file
type.
Next, click the New Type button. As shown in the picture below, enter Portable Report
in the "Description of Type" field and type prf in the "Associated extension" field.

The large field beneath those, labeled "Actions:", will be blank. Click the New... button
, and a window as shown below will open:
Enter Open in the "Action:" field. Next, click the Browse... button to select the
Monarch Report Explorer program. A standard Windows file selection dialog will open:

Click the drop-down list adjacent to "Look in:" and select the C: drive. Double-click
the Program Files folder, then the Monarch Report Explorer folder, then the program
folder. Highlight the mx32.exe file and click Open. You will then see the path and
program in the "Application used to perform action:" field in the New Action window as
shown above. Click OK, and you will now see Open listed in boldface in the "Actions:"
list of the Add New File Type window.
If the Monarch icon isn't displayed at the top of the Add New File Type window, click the
Change Icon button and select the Monarch icon from the list:

That completes the process. Click OK to close the Add New File Type window and exit
Windows NT Explorer. You should now be able to open a Monarch report by double-clicking
the file.

you have any questions.
